Commscope Inc. is eliminating 400 manufacturing jobs through the closure of its plant in Omaha, Neb.

Commscope President and COO Eddie Edwards said current economic conditions led to the closure. Operations at the facility, which produced parts used in cable networks, will be relocated to other U.S. plants, Edwards said.

Commscope is in the midst of a restructuring that will cost between $45 and $53 million, but the closure of the Omaha plant is expected to save the company between $18 million and $22 million.

Commscope was founded in Hickory, N.C. more than 30 years ago and currently has more than 13,000 employees in 130 countries, according to the company Web site.
