EcomNets Bringing 160 Jobs to Danville

virginiaflag_160x120Computer manufacturing company EcomNets will invest $1.94 million for a new facility in Danville, Va. that will create 160 new jobs., Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Tuesday.

EcomNets plans to establish a manufacturing operation in Danville that will produce “green” computers that the company says operate on significantly less power than current models.   The company plans to begin hiring in the near future with operations set to begin in late summer, according to a press release.

The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $500,000 for the project. Gov. McDonell hailed the move with this statement: “The company’s mission to manufacture energy efficient computers is vital to our efforts to decrease energy use and its effects on our environment.

“In addition, this investment and 160 new jobs will be important to the residents of Southern Virginia, who will welcome EcomNets with an available workforce.”
