United Space Alliance Plans 100 Layoffs
Post Views 1June 4 is the projected date that the United Space Alliance (USA) will be laying off 100 workers at the Kennedy Space Center.
The layoffs come as no surprise, as this is normal course leading to the end of a shuttle program.
“They knew that there was a possibility that there might be a small layoff in June,” said USA spokesperson Tracy Yates.
The United Space Alliance is NASA’s primary contractor for human space operations which include management of the space shuttle fleet, training, planning, and International Space Station operations.
“We’re doing this layoff as a way to align our workforce with the approved 2010 budget and the space program operations contract work scope,” said Yates.
