Seven positions in various departments and half of the 119 unfilled city positions are some of the cuts outlined in Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s budget proposal.

Brown describes his $460 million budget as “fiscally conservative,” as it is only 2.6 percent larger than last year’s, an amount that is only slightly higher than inflation.

There are no services being cut, funding for schools is staying the same, and no fee increases are being imposed. Residential property taxes will decrease slightly, around 2.71 percent, while commercial property taxes are to remain unchanged.

Mayor Brown eagerly pointed out that his administration’s budget is one day early, while the state’s budget about a month late.
