95 Could be Laid Off in Sonoma County
Post Views 0Sonoma County, California is facing a $60 million budget deficit and has announced plans to fill it by laying off up to 95 county workers and eliminating 156 currently vacant positions. Though not technically final, the steep cuts were approved unanimously by the county board of supervisors, which authorized department heads to begin the process laying off employees.
Budget hearings are set to begin on June 14th and any changes to the number of layoffs and eliminations will be made at that time. Among the likely casualties of the shrinking budget is the Orenda Substance Abuse Center in Santa Rosa. The center serves approximately 500 patients.
