Arizona-based Maricopa Integrated Health System said it is terminating 145 positions as part of a restructuring designed to save the health system more than $7 million.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports Maricopa is reducing overall expenses by nearly $30 million. However, only about 87 people, fewer than 3 percent of Maricopa’s total work force, will be affected. The other positions set for termination are currently vacant. The positions include management, administrative, and clinical staff as well as 28 nurses.

Maricopa Integrated Health System includes Maricopa Medical Center, the Arizona Burn Center, the Comprehensive Healthcare Center, the McDowell Healthcare Clinic and 10 other community-oriented family health centers.
