Atlanta Sends Out Layoff Notices

The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that dozens, if not more, of Atlanta city workers were notified today that they will not have jobs at the close of the fiscal year.  Among those notified were airport employees and corrections officers.  The city has been in recent weeks moving toward the finalization of a budget and trying to close gaps and tie up loose ends.

According to a proposed personnel plan, at least 120 airport jobs will be slashed.  An undisclosed amount of parks and rec, planning and development and buildings bureau employees will get the axe.  Still other employees will see salary restructuring – not raises to be sure.
