wisconsin_160x120A builder of high-end yachts in Wisconsin will add 315 workers largely because of a $1.5 million state loan, Gov. Jim Doyle said Wedensday.

Marquis Yachts, LLC will receive the loan from the Community Development Block Grant program of the Department of Commerce, the Associated Press reports. Marquis Yachts was previously known as Carver Yachts before its parent company filed for bankruptcy last year. Production had been shut down for months pending the reorganization.

The company started producing yachts earlier this year under the Marquis Yachts moniker. According to the story, many of the new jobs will be in manufacturing at the company’s Pulaski facility.

According to Marquis’ Web site, each boat is hand built by a team of experienced yacht builders and technicians. The company has been around in one form or another since the early 1800s.
