cbo_logo-1The federal government’s Congressional Budget Office has announced that 50 members of the US House and Senate will be given the axe. The layoffs come as a result of a CBO audit, which exposed that the government had been operating at a loss for nearly a decade. It also revealed exponentially increasing deficits with no foreseeable end.

Iva Goodsense, Associate Director of the CBO released the following statement: “Regrettably, it has become necessary for us to abolish 50 House and 50 Senate jobs to help curtail our growing deficits. We are doing everything we can to make the necessary adjustments and help laid off Congresspersons find new jobs.”

Goodsense responded to questioning regarding adequate representation of the states, saying “’Representation’ does not require primary residency as long as the needs of the people are met. Eliminating Congressional jobs does not necessarily mean eliminating representation.”
