Navistar Issues WARN Notices To 370 Ohio Workers
Post Views 5The Springfield News Sun: Layoff notices went out yesterday to some 370 Navistar workers employed at the company’s Springfield, Ohio facility. All of those workers are members of the United Auto Workers Local 402 and 658 and union officials are not happy. If the cuts happen they will go into effect on October 1. The plant is part of the company’s International Truck and Motor division.
A Navistar spokesperson said that the company is making every effort to forego the layoffs, but it is making plans to meet its current work orders and is considering diverting the work to other of its facilities. The layoff announcement roughly coincides with the October 1 expiration of the current labor contract between the UAW and Navistar.
