Pontiac, Michigan to Layoff 104
Post Views 1The city of Pontiac, Michigan has scheduled November 12 to be the layoff day for 104 workers, including 77 full-time employees. Police and public works employees were not immune to the cuts which are expected to save the city some $5.2 million annually.
Chief Val Gross said the police cuts are to include four supervisors in the 76-person department. Six years ago this department employed more than twice as many people.
“We’ll make it work — we had some big hits a few years ago and we met the challenge,” said Gross. Lines of communication were opened with the Michigan State Police, which has been of assistance in the past.
