Online Degrees Gain Momentum

New information about online degrees may change the way you think of a college degree.

A recent survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management reveals some interesting new regarding the way hiring officers and human resources official are treating those who earned their college degree at a computer.

According to the survey, 79% of human resources officials claimed that their organizations had hired one or more applicants with online degrees during the past year.

“The majority of surveyed HR professionals said they think online degrees are viewed more favorably today than five years ago,” said Mark Schmit, the director of research at the society. “And a growing

number see individual courses taken online as equally credible to courses taken at traditional universities.”

However, almost half of hirers, 49%, stated that online degrees were less impressive than traditional college degrees.
