Township in New Jersey to Lay Off 41
Post Views 0Hamilton County is New Jersey’s largest municipality and it’s facing a budget gap of $2.4 million. After negotiating with the relevant unions who refused to make any concessions, the Township Administrator laid out a plan that includes laying off 41 employees, 32 of whom are full time. The cuts include 13 police officers, 14 Teamster employees, along with 5 full time and 9 part time non-union employees.
In addition to the layoffs, the township will implement a 2.5 cent increase to the local tax rate to make up the rest of the budget shortfall.
