Drug shortages at a record high

The shortage of raw materials is making the drug makers to discontinue manufacturing of older and off-patent drugs and they are concentrating on making only more profitable medicines which has added to the record high shortage of drugs in the market. About 178 drug shortages were noticed to Food and Drug Administration and Valerie Jensen, FDA’s expert on drug shortages is keen on doing everything to control this drug shortage as and when they occur.

In 2010 178 drugs experienced shortages in the U.S.. That's an all-time high and regulators blame quality and manufacturing problems for the crisis.
