New claims for jobless benefits fell last week

According to the Labor Department, there has been a fall in the initial claims of unemployment insurance by 29,000 to a seasonally adjusted 469,000. This month’s average of claims fell by 3,500 to 470,750. Even though there is a noticeable drop, the average has climbed by about 20,000 since the beginning of the year.
