A $40 million budget shortfall is forcing Legacy Health to cut up to 400 positions in the Portland area. CEO George Brown cited reduced provider reimbursements by the state Medicaid program as the overwhelming reason for the shortfall. Currently, Legacy employs close to 10,000 people in Oregon and Washington between six hospitals and 36 clinics.
