In its latest ad in Australia, Ford has advertised its Falcon model as a toad squashing eco-friendly vehicle. For those of you who are wondering how is this possible, its time for a history/ecology lesson.

Cane toads are an invasive species originally native to Central and South America and brought to Australia by Europeans to protect the sugar cane crops from the cane beetles. The toads not only did the job but started reproducing and spreading far beyond what was intended for them. The highly toxic toads have no natural predators because which they have been damaging the Australian ecosystem for well over a century now.

Until now that is. The Ford ad shows the two Aussie toads chatting on a highway till one of them gets squashed by a Ford Falcon.

Note to American Humane Association: As of now, it is unknown if any toads were harmed in the making of this advertisement.
