Planned Muscogee County Teacher Layoffs Down to Nine

Working with a budget that is 2.2% less than the previous year, the school board in Muskogee County is forced to cut back on the number of teachers. Originally, the proposed number of teachers that would need to be laid off was forty, but this number has been reduced to just nine, although this amount could change as the final budget is worked out. The vote for this decision was unanimous. Two schools in the district have been closed due to the budget reduction.
