Apple Executive Defends Pricing on E-Books Case

Apple is defending itself in federal district court against claims that it conspired with book publishers to fix e-book pricing, in violation of federal law. The publishers have all settled their cases, but the government is prosecuting Apple, the alleged ringleader. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services, took the stand in defense of the company. The case is zeroing in on emails between executives at Apple and publishers to determine whether they were intending to force Amazon to change its policy of charging $9.99 as a uniform price for e-books.
