ohioflag_160x120 The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) reported that the state registered a slight decrease in unemployment rate in October, with 9.5% compared to 10.3% in October 2009. The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in October is now 588,000, down from 591,000 in September.

ODJFS Director Douglas Lumpkin said that the state’s unemployment rate slipped slightly due to the job increase registered in the month of September. “Ohio’s unemployment rate fell below 10% for the first time since March 2009, thanks to job gains in both the goods-producing and service-providing industries,” Lumpkin noted.

While Ohio’s overall unemployment rate decreased, 71 of the 88 counties showed an increase in their rates.
