It is never easy to fire an employee, especially someone who has been with your company for such a long time, but sometimes it just has to be done. There are some people who handle being fired very easily, calmly walking out on their last day, without incident. Then, there are others who become disgruntled ex-employees, trying to tarnish your company’s reputation through slanderous comments and statements on the internet. Now, there is a way for you to improve your company’s reputation when it is tarnished by former employees. Online Reputation Management founder Ed Eshel said, “We have seen a significant increase in cases where companies have contacted us because an ex-employee, usually someone who has been fired or left under stressful circumstances, has posted disparaging comments online.”

Online Reputation Management does not deal with all of its cases the same way. Instead, they deal with each individual case on a separate basis. They tailor the needs of each individual case based on the matters at hand. The most pressing concern that must be dealt with is removing all of the comments made on forums, social media sites, and blogs that trash your company. As soon as the negative comments have been removed, the company focuses on the prevention of future negative remarks and using marketing and SEO practices to show your company is the most positive light.

The head of human resources at an undisclosed media company from Texas, which recently used Online Reputation Management, had the following to say about their service: “This employee felt he was wrongly dismissed. Shortly after leaving the company, he started posting many negative comments and mini articles literally slandering our company and the management. A significant part of our personnel are recruited from a local pool of graduates, and being from this group himself, as well as being very knowledgeable with the Internet, he was able to make sure his comments were viewed by exactly whom he wanted – our potential employees. Like most companies, we know our success depends on our staff. We target high caliber individuals to drive our company forward, and such online slander can be detrimental to our success.”

The human resources manager went on to explain the following: “We wanted to make sure that potential candidates who searched our company online would view a complete, honest and positive profile of the company. From there it is that individual’s decision to continue with the application process, should they be interested in working for us. It would be a shame for both our company and the potential recruit to miss out, based on false information posted by one particularly bitter person.”

Online Reputation Management has found that negative comment posting on the internet has become all too common nowadays, and these comments can be potentially harmful to the image of a company. Most prospective employees will research a company they apply to using the internet prior to sitting down for an interview or accepting a job offer, so Online Reputation Management does what it can to nip the problems in the bud.
