SF Chronicle to Cut Up to 100 Drivers
Post Views 0Between 90 and 100 drivers for the San Francisco Chronicle will be jobless, after an agreement reached between the paper and the drivers’ union.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 853 voted to approve a contract, which will cut the number of drivers to 130, to save the jobs of drivers who deliver to homes.
Laid off workers will get two weeks of severance pay for each year of employment, up to 52 weeks.
Hearst, which owns The Chronicle, has threatened to shutter the paper.
