The shuttering of two Tyco Electronics plants in Pennsylvania will mean the transfer of some jobs to Greensboro, North Carolina, the company has announced.

The Berwyn-based manufacturer of electronic components is slashing 2,500 jobs because of reduced demand. Tyco Electronics has about 92,000 employees worldwide.

A spokesperson said it is still too early to know how many jobs from the closing factories will move to Greensboro or to Rock Hill, South Carolina, where the company also has facilities.

The Pennsylvania plant closures should be complete by March.
