Manufacturer and marketer Pella Corp. has held a second round of layoffs at their plant in Sioux Center in northwest Iowa.
The company claims that 86 workers have been laid off. Spokeswoman for the company, Kath Krafka Harkema, says the layoffs were needed due to the credit crunch which as led to a drop in demand for building materials throughout the country.
Pella Corp. laid off 65 employees in December.
The company will also reduce the hours of the remaining 250 employees in Sioux Center, enforcing a four-day work week to cut costs.
