IDG groupBoston technology publisher International Data Group announced that it will be laying off a small amount of its work staff in Massachusetts this week due to the recession. However, IDG did not specify how many jobs were going to be lost.

International Data Group is a technology media, research, event management, and venture capital organization. They publish over 300 magazines in 85 countries and have five global publication product lines — Computerworld/InfoWorld, CIO, Macworld, Network World, and PC World to name a few.

“We’re continuing to adjust our expense levels to reflect the business conditions,” said spokesman for IDG Howard Sholkin.

The company employs more than 13,000 employees worldwide. 850 of those jobs are based in Massachusetts.

These job cuts will affect two of subsidiaries of IDG: CXO Media Inc. and Network World Inc. in Framingham.

IDG reported $3.2 billion in revenue in the fiscal year that ended last September, which was a six percent increase; however, advertising revenue has dropped due to current economic conditions.
