The Hawker Beechcraft Corp. based in Wichita, Kansas, announced that 2,300 more employees will get the axe before ’09 is up. Employees who will be laid off, will be notified by this Friday.

CEO Jim Schuster said, in a letter to employees, that the corporation has received less orders and deliveries, as well as faces other new challenges. The government’s stimulus package, he said, has failed to sufficiently loosen credit markets vital to the company’s success.

Hawker Beechcraft Corp. is the a holding company formed by Goldman Sachs and Onex Corp. in order to undertake the aircraft manufacturing assets of Beechcraft and Hawker, two units which were once part of Raytheon, a major American defense contractor. The partnership between Sachs and Onex paid $3.3 billion in December of 2006. They have operations in Salina, Kansas; Arkansas, Mexico, as well as the UK.

The company laid off around 500 employees during the fourth quarter of ’08.
