Report Holds Renewable Energy Could Create Up to 37 Million New Jobs by 2030

According to a report put out by the American Solar Energy Society and Management Information Services, renewable energy and efficiency industries employed more than 9 million people in the U.S. during 2007, generating over a trillion dollars in revenue.

The report held several key findings.:

– 95% of the jobs in the renewable energy sector were in private industry.

-The sector has the potential to add up to 37 million jobs by 2030.

-The largest growths in revenue belong to solar thermal, solar photovoltaics, biofuels, and fuel cells.

-The renewable energy sector grew more than three times as fast as the US economy in 2007.

The study also predicted that the revenue for renewable energy could surpass 4 trillion in annual revenue by 2030.
