Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin said Friday that 85 permanent job cuts have been made, and parts of the outboard motor manufacturer’s plant will be on a two-week temporary shutdown starting today.

Human resources feep Ray Atchinson said the moves are aimed at putting production capacity in line with demand.

Mercury Marine, founded in 1939, is a division of Brunswick Corporation of Lake Forest, Illinois. Mercury product brands include Mercury, Mercury Racing, MerCruiser, and Mariner outboard motors.
