BombardierBombardier Q4 profit jumped 42% as sales of trains in Europe rose, but the company will cut 3,000 jobs in its aerospace unit anyway.

Bombardier Aerospace is reducing all of its business and regional jet production. The job cuts, which will occur this year, are in Canada, the US, Mexico and Northern Ireland, and represent 10% of the unit’s staff.

The company eliminated 1,360 positions in February.

Bombardier said it still plans to increase commercial aircraft deliveries, excluding business jets, by 10% this year.

Montreal’s Bombardier Aerospace is the third largest aircraft company in the world in terms of yearly delivery of commercial airplanes overall, and the fourth largest in terms of yearly delivery of regional jets.
