Kentucky flagKentucky officials and The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries are working to bring a $600 million manufacturing campus to Hardin County.

The Alliance chose Kentucky over seven other states as the potential home of the complex. If funding is secured, the plant would create up to 2,000 jobs.

The proposed plant would build lithium-ion batteries for next generation of electric-powered cars. It will feature a headquarters building, an assembly line for making prototypes, and a larger line for producing batteries for the wholesale market.

The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries represents 50 companies, including 3M and BASF.
