PennsylvaniaPennsylvania lost more than 30,000 jobs in March, as unemployment hit 7.8%, the highest rate in more than 16 years.

The state Department of Labor & Industry says the unemployment rate rose from 7.5% in February. The number of people seeking work rose by 13,000.

Since the global economic meltdown began in December 2007, Pennsylvania has lost more than 130,000 jobs.
