3,000 Apply for 400 Prison Jobs

Private prison operator Corrections Corporation of America held a job fair this week, and met with 3,000 applicants at for 409 jobs at its new facility in Adams County, Mississippi.

CCA officials had expected about 1,000 applicants.

The 2,658-bed prison will open in late July. The inmates will be minimum-security federal prisoners, most illegal immigrants.

Corrections Corporation of America manages public prisons and detention centers, and has concessions for many others. The company is the largest private corrections company in the US, managing more than 60 facilities with a designed capacity of 85,000 beds.
