Orlando, Florida to Cut 342 Municipal Jobs

Orlando flagThe city of Orlando, Florida will cut 342 jobs, or 10% of its workforce.

The city will eliminate 222 filled and 120 vacant positions. The cuts include 50 firefighters and 15 police officers. The cuts take effect in October.

Orlando is also freezing the salaries of appointed officials, and cutting department budgets by 12%.

Founded in 1875, Orlando is the county seat of Orange County, and is Florida’s third largest metropolitan area, behind Miami and Tampa.
