MoCALos Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Art has cut 17 positions, reduced salaries and canceled exhibitions.

Two of those laid off were curators. Senior staffers have accepted 5% salary cuts, and other employees will see reduced salaries and/or hours.

Four upcoming exhibitions have been canceled.

Established in 1979, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles is a modern art museum with three locations in greater Los Angeles, California. The main branch is located on Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles, near the Walt Disney Concert Hall. MoCA’s original space, intended as a “temporary” exhibit space while the main facility was built, is now known as the Geffen Contemporary, in the Little Tokyo district. The Pacific Design Center facility is in nearby West Hollywood.

The museum’s exhibits consist primarily of American and European contemporary art created since 1940.
