Detroit News Cutting 129 Jobs

The Detroit Media Partnership, which operates the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, is laying off 129 workers, including editorial and management positions, as the US newspaper industry circles the drain.

The firm blames the economic meltdown and a loss of ad revenue.

Founded in 1987, the Detroit Media Partnership LP manages the business operations, including production, advertising and circulation, for the two leading Detroit newspapers: the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. DNPS also handles Detroit-area circulation for the New York Times, USA Today, Investor’s Business Daily, and Financial Times.
