Tennessee flagState of Tennessee lost 1,472 jobs just in the two weeks between May 18 and June 1st, according to the state’s Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Department store Goody’s laid off 565 workers in Knox County, and the Memphis school district cut 320 jobs, amongst other losses.

Tennesee’s unemployment rate climbed to 9.9% in April, the highest in 25 years.
