Electrolux Moving 150 More US Jobs to Mexico

ElectroluxIn the midst of the worst economic recession in decades, Electrolux is laying off 150 more workers at its Webster City, Iowa washer and dryer plant, and moving production to Mexico.

The cuts will be effective June 15th. Workers may be rehired if economic conditions improve.

In February, the company laid off 43 at the plant. Five hundred people have been let go at the plant since November 2008.

Electrolux will also shut down a second Webster City plant.

The Electrolux Group is a Swedish manufacturer of home and professional appliances. Electrolux products include refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners and cookers sold under brand names like Electrolux, Germany’s AEG, Italy’s Zanussi, Australia’s Kelvinator and, in the US, Eureka and Frigidaire.
