Borsheim’s Lays Off 5% of Workforce

These are the first layoffs in the firm’s 139-year history.
Borsheim’s Fine Jewelry is a jewelry store in Omaha, Nebraska. The store was founded in 1870, and has grown to become one of the largest independent jewelry stores in the nation. The store has been a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway since 1989.
Borsheim’s single 62,500 square-foot store anchors the upscale Regency Court mall in Omaha. It plays a starring role in Berkshire’s annual shareholders meeting, hosting an enormous party each year.
