Midwest ISONon-profit power utility Midwest ISO will hire 69 new employees in Carmel, Indiana. Some of the positions will pay $85,000.

Half of the new positions will be for power system engineers; the others are software developers and database administrators.

The organization is getting a $1.3 million in grants from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The city will provide a property tax abatement.

The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (Midwest ISO) is an Independent System Operator, and the Regional Transmission Organization that provides open-access transmission service and monitors the high voltage transmission system throughout the Midwest United States and Manitoba, Canada. The Midwest ISO operates one of the world’s largest real-time energy markets and has 93,600 miles of transmission lines under its direction.

Midwest ISO employs 760, with 650 of those jobs in Carmel.
