University of MinnesotaThe University of Minnesota will lose 1,200 jobs under the new state budget. That’s because it will lose $177 million in state funding over the next two years.

Most of the reduction will be through attrition, and four hundred and fifty university employees have taken an early retirement incentive.

The University of Minnesota is a large university with several campuses spread throughout the state. There are four primary campuses in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Crookston, and Morris. In addition, university services are available in Rochester, and a campus was open in Waseca for a time. The university also operates several research facilities.
