Governator Orders 2,000 More State Jobs Cut

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has ordered state department heads to eliminate 2,000 more jobs, on top of 5,000 positions he wants to cut as part of his budget.

There are currently 230,000 state employees. Four thousand six hundred layoff notices have been sent; 400 other positions were vacant.

Laid-off workers will be able to apply for other state jobs.

Schwarzenegger is also requiring state workers to take three unpaid days off a month, a 14% pay cut.
