ecotality_160x120ECOtality and subsidiary Electric Transportation Engineering (eTec) will get $100 million in federal stimulus funds to build an electric vehicle charging infrastructure, in partnership with Nissan.

The firms will build networks of charging stations in 12 cities nationwide, including eTec’s home town of Phoenix. The firm expects to create 750 jobs there, and 5,000 new jobs overall.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has provided $2.3 billion overall for the electric car industry.

ECOtality, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a leader in clean electric transportation and storage technologies.
