Thermo Fisher Closes Dubuque Facility; Creates 350 Layoffs
Post Views 1Life sciences supply company Thermo Fisher sent out a press release to local media Tuesday afternoon announcing the closure of its Dubuque facility, taking a total of 350 jobs with it.
The layoffs will begin in January 2010 and the plant will come to a final close September 2010.
The release cited a number of reasons for the closure.
According to the press release,“The decision affecting Dubuque was made only after internal strategic review, and is the result of a number of business factors, including review of current and projected customer needs, and the capacity of existing Thermo Fisher manufacturing facilities. It is not a reflection on the quality or efficiency of the work performed by the employees in Dubuque.”
