creeCree Inc., a North Carolina based manufacturer of energy efficient lighting elements, is expanding its operations at its Durham plant. 275 new jobs will be created by the end of this year at the plant, which makes LED chips. The company expects and additional 300 new jobs will be created by 2012.

Cree was formed in 1987 by researchers from North Carolina State University, and has facilities in North Carolina and Hong Kong.
