nh-state-flag_2Governor John Lynch has announced that 250 New Hampshire state employees will be laid off in order to save the state $25 million. State workers were offered an option between 19 furlough days (which would amount to a 3.5% pay cut) or to tough their way through mass layoffs. With a 59% margin, the workers chose to endure the layoffs.

“I think it was a very fair contract… and I’m disappointed that’s not the contract going forward,” said the governor regarding the furloughs deal.

As a result of the failing economy, need for state services has raised significantly. Governor Lynch is optimistic that the services will maintain a similar capacity.
