250 New Hampshire State Employees To Be Laid Off
Post Views 4Governor John Lynch has announced that 250 New Hampshire state employees will be laid off in order to save the state $25 million. State workers were offered an option between 19 furlough days (which would amount to a 3.5% pay cut) or to tough their way through mass layoffs. With a 59% margin, the workers chose to endure the layoffs.
“I think it was a very fair contract… and I’m disappointed that’s not the contract going forward,” said the governor regarding the furloughs deal.
As a result of the failing economy, need for state services has raised significantly. Governor Lynch is optimistic that the services will maintain a similar capacity.
