Cumberland County, NJ May Be Headed For Layoffs
Post Views 5Cumberland County is facing a multimillion-dollar budget gap, yet Freeholder Board Director, Louis Magazzu is set on passing a budget that does no include layoffs or tax increases.
Magazzu is faced with the challenge of convincing union employees to take a three-month salary freeze, implement changes to health care benefits and make sure all county workers take furloughs.
Magazzu and the county have a layoff plan in place, should such measures become necessary.
If the director cannot “spread the pain around,” and obtain the concessions and savings that seem necessary, a small tax increase may occur.
