Celgard Adds 289 Jobs in Charlotte Area

Governor Bev Perdue announced Wednesday that Celgard will build a new production facility in the Charlotte North Carolina area and add 289 jobs over the next five years. The new jobs will pay an average salary of $56,960 plus benefits. Celgard develops and manufactures the materials used in the production of lithium batteries. The company will receive $4.6 million in same income tax rebates under the North Carolina Job Development Investment Grant if it meets its hiring target. Celgard will also receive a $955,000 One North Carolina Fund grant from the state. Celgard is expanding its headquarters in Charlotte as part of a $91 million investment over the next five years.
