USDA Awards Grants to Spark Rural Job Creation

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded more than $4 million in grants to 44 recipients with the express purpose of creating jobs in rural communities.

The grants are provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will be funneled to businesses representing 27 states and Guam. According to a press release, businesses will be able to access capital to help with start-up and working capital loans, building and plant renovations, transportation improvements, project planning and other business needs.

Funding for individual recipients is contingent upon their meeting the terms of their grant agreement.
