floridaflag_160x120A combined $16.1 million had been requested from various counties as part of the Florida back to work program. The program allows the private, nonprofit Workforce Solutions to reimburse all of the wages of applicable workers. The jobs must be for positions paying less than $40,000 a year and the funds are coming from a $200 million U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant.

Executive director of the county business development board Ron Bunch said “These funds provided the necessary incentive for our companies to begin hiring — 261 is a significant number of people returning to the work force.”

Important to note is that the funds have not yet been distributed by the state, and no timeline has been put into place.
