Tax Credits Lead to 17,321 New Jobs in Michigan
Post Views 0More than $156.7 million in tax credits that’s expected to create 17,321 jobs has been awarded by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority.
Dow Chemical Co. received the biggest prize as it was awarded $61.3 million in job creation tax credits over the next 15 years. The company is to produce solar shingles and employ 1,275 workers.
Next in line was Dow Kokum, which was awarded $42 million in tax credits to be used for a large-scale facility that will produce cells and batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles. The plant is expected to create about 480 jobs.
In all, tax credits were awarded to 10 corporate ventures and a brownfield redevelopment project.
